Well, I almost forgot to upload this artwork. It´s an US Army "Mechanic Mule" m724, employed at ´Nam. This cartoon was a commisioned work for the "Dixie Division Military Vehicles Group" from Alabama, USA. I show you a couple of pics and the tee´. This last pic was sent to me by mr. Chuck Watford.

Well, this set of drawings has been done for a customer, trying to represent 40s pin-ups and so.

The women in uniform are both WW2 Allied volunteers. At left, an US WAAC, or US Women´s Army Corps, 1944 and at right, and a Royal Canadian Women´s Naval Service, circa 1943. Behind them a WW2 Willys jeep (or Ford GPW version!).

MAN Kat 6x6 truck

This black and white artwork was another comissioned order drawn for a local customer, "Traccion 4WD", which has organized an expedition to Libia, Africa.

The truck is a German ex-Bundeswehr (German federal army) MAN Kat 6x6, modified for this purpose, which was previously employed as snow-plow at Madrid.

Due to a comission order for a customer, who´s aim was a caricature for a friend depicted as Steve McQueen riding the "German-British" bike (in fact a British Trium Nortph TR6 650) at "The Great Escape" (1963), I drawn this to be printed in a t-shirt.

Also, I show you a pair of t-shirts realised by order, in which appears the cartoons of the customers and their respective cars. To the left, a Renault 10 and a Renault 8. Congratulations to its owners to take care so much of those automobiles with such mimo and care!

These are a series of t-shirts for another customer. To notice the small one, of clear blue color, with a VW T1 van, for a boy of 1 year old. I hope that he would like it!

This time, I must to draw a caricature of a customer and his passion for Vespas scooters.So, he appears riding one 125cc model (made at 1961) with cathedral of Siena, Italy, as a background. The blue t-shirt have the shield of Ferrari, with "il Cavallino Rampante", as background. In a podium, and from left to right, appear some heroes of atomotive competition: Tazio Nuvolari, Gilles Villeneuve, and Michael Schumacher. The car was one driven at 80s by Villeneuve. At left appears the customer.

The other t-shirt has a main motive an Italian Fiat 500.

Yes, I live at the city in which bulls run in the streets..Ok, only for a few days, fortunately. Yes, it´s Pamplona in Spanish or Iruña in Basque language or "euskera".

And as some of you could know, there´re several "peñas" (16 at least) which are more or less a club which are devoted to promote the "party", organizing cultural, sport, etc. acts during all the year, but specially in the previous days of San Fermin (6th to 14th of July). I have been drawing and painting their "pancartas" or banners from 10 years ago, at least, when I have just finished my studies in Fine Arts...

The motives of these are mainly devoted to local facts, but from time to time they reflect international events (Irak, etc., etc.). Of course, they´re quite critic, event more than "MAD" magazine I think!

Here you could see a very old banner from 1953, and
then to the "Fotografias" section, in which appears another one from latest years.

Normally, the "peñas" organized a contest to choose an artwork to be shown in the canvas. Other times they suggested some of the subjects. So the cartoonists must drawn first in a cardboard which measurements are 48 x 28 cms. and then, if you got to be the winner, you must paint it in a blanket canvas of 5 meters long x 1.50 or 2 meters height, more or less. What a work!!!

These´re a couple of artworks presented to "Sanduzelai peña". The 1st one wasn´t choosed:

And then...the banner or "pancarta"!! First, I draw with a charcoal and then comes the paint.

The guy sitting at the mountain is the recently died Iñaki Ochoa de Olza, a well known local mountain climber. Yes, this time I prefer to paint anything different than a politician...I was fed up of them!

The came the reverse of the "pancarta" with the "peña" banner, the Basque flag or "ikurriña" at left, etc., etc.

The 2nda "pancarta" was commissioned by "peña Anaitasuna".

Well, and this one was the 3rd banner I painted! The idea or "boceto" cames from another local painter, mr. Pablo Ibarrola, and customer is "Peña Donibane". So, I must to apply the style of another artist! He, and the size of the blanket was really big...5 meters long x 2 meters height!

...is shown here, and comissioned by a group of workers from "Exquim S.A.", a chemical company from Catalonia, Spain (which belongs to "Grupo Ferrer"). This artwork was presented as a gift to the boss of them, the day of his retirement.

A convoy

This time I must to draw a convoy of vehicles, mainly cars and a tribune with a group of people. The aim of this artwork was to be presented as a gift by the family of a grand pa´ for his birthday. So, the spectators are all the relatives (sons, daughters, etc.) and the vehicles, from the Lambretta scooter (right) to Seat 600, Seat 1500, Citroen CX, etc., etc. were all the vehicles he has owned.

A "small" paint on the wall...or the walls!!!

Probably, one of the most important works that I have recently done is a comissioned artwork which consisted in a paint drawn in the wall for the "Kutxa Espacio de la Ciencia" of Donostia, San Sebastián, at the Spanish Basque Country.

The project (a well fashioned term!) covered a total space of 30 square meters. The space was a ditch located at one of the interior rooms of the museum, concretely in the one devoted to Bilbao´s tram (another city of the Basque Country, where Guggenheim museum is). There were 4 surfaces to cover: 2 at the sides, at each extreme, 1.80 mts. width, one at the front with 6.82 mts. and the ground which was 6.82 x 1.80. The height of 3 walls was 2.55 mts.

This is a pic of the room, in which you can see the dith, covered by glass (at the ground). The aim of this artwork was to creat a sensation of depth or perspective, for the people standing on the glass.

This is a sketch of the artwork distribution, showing the area to be painted:

For choose a definitive idea, I drawn several sketches and in contribution with the team of "Kutxa Espacio", and after a selection process, we choose one of them.

But as 1 image worths 1 thousand words, these´re several of them, I show you the ideas:

And well, someday started the "magna" work, after checking the humidity conditions and priming all the surface:

Then, after 2 days "sniffing" paint, I began the drawings with charcoal:

Yes, I enjoy so much little details, as the red Willys jeep at the right (in fact I "usually was" a scale modeller!)...Well, these´re the pics of the finished work:

Perhaps you couldn´t see at the pics, but the shades have a collour degradation, from dark to lighter, in other to get a sensation of depth.

There´s the lighthouse, at the island, and also the observatory:

The "happy couple" at the ship wasn´t my idea! I swear you! The women at "Kutxa Espacio" put this as I was finishing the work at 14th February, the Love Day! Argh!

Hi!

These´re some caricatures done for a friend of mine, who comissioned the artwork.

The illustrations show himself running (as he´s a great sport man!), and all his kids. I have managed to show each of their principal hobbies. I.e., the father running at a duathlon series, the younger daughter playing "txistu" (a Basque musical instrument). In fact, she´s dressed as a Basque "casera", and the kid playing european football or soccer, with the clothes of our local football team, "Osasuna".

Oh, well, I realize that we´re in March, but after a real hard months of work, I just can´t resist to upload here some of the Christmas postcard that I did for several companies and institutions.

First of them, one for "Otero & Ollo Comuniación 2002", a local based pub & communication agency. The artwork portraiys all the crew of this company.

The 2nd one was commissioned by the "Gazteleku" (in Basque, a place for teenagers and kids) of Villava, Atarrabia, a small village near my hometown. As I have been previously working there as a comic teacher, they thought on me for a work like that. And so, I depicted the building and the principal motto, which says also in Basque language "Happy Christmas and New Year!".

And yes, I´m the one at the top left! Handing the brush.

And the third one was did for "Almohadas Moshy-Textiles Inducam", a local based comany which made textile products and so. The main motives are the commercial manager of the firm, who´s driving a Vespa 75 "Sprint" scooter, running with the bulls at Pamplona-Iruña.

The building at the background is the town hall.
About these last 2, the one with Santa at wheel, was drawing for the cj2a.com website, and the other one for the vets of the Section de Reconnaissance et Observation, Régiment de Marche du Tchad, of the 2nd Free French Armored Division "Leclerc", which fought at ETO during WW2.

"Amalgama" music band caricature!

This was another commissioned artwork for a group of fellows and friends who work at a local autocar workshop and dealer. As they share a common hobby, play in an "aficionado" music band called "Amalgama", they decided to order me a special cartoon of all of them. This one was also gave as a gift to their bearbed friend, as he retired this year from work.

The size was DIN A3: 42 cms. width x 29.7 cms. height. Painted with acrylics, mainly, but I also used some pencils and other stuff.

As you could see, first sketches, drawn in B&W, were different from the definitive stages.

So, we decided to redrawn it and this is the result:

A Vespa scooter...redone

This particular canvas (painted with acrylics) have been redone, after several changes as the "scooterist" head size, i.e. I wasn´t very pleased with the result and so this was the reason to redo again.

Well, this is a commissioned artwork by "El Clàssic Motor Club del Bages", a wonderful club of classic vehicles "aficionados", located at Catalonia, Spain. This is their website:

About the artwork, it was painted with pencils, and acrylics, specially. The size is 42 cms x 29.7 cms.

The vehicles represented: from left to right, a Buick Model 25-6-54C, a Spanish made "PTV" micro-car, a Vespa scooter, a Willys jeep CJ3A , another Spanish made industrial truck, with a Barreiros engine (logo at the frontal grille), and a design more or less based in the famous "Autocarrocetta".

I hope you´ll enjoy the shots! As you could see, those show the 1st steps: first, black and white: then, the colours, and finally, the ink, employing some permanent makers (Edding, i.e.).

Le Chansson de Roland

This time, my work isn´t focused on a vehicle, but in a Medieval era myth, the fought of Roland, at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass, an area of my region.

All the artwork started with a pencil and after I got the drawing in ink.

And before finishing this one, I have drawn a 2nd version, adding this time color with Adobe Photoshop.

It´s a canvas of 61 cms. x 50 cms., painted with acrylics.

Mmm, but after some days checking the canvas and with the critic help of my father, I have done some changes at it! Who knows if those would be the last!!!

Well, another year, another San Fermines "fiestas"!!! This year I not just painted 3 "pancartas" for "Las peñas" but also made several t-shirt designs The customer wanted 3 cartoon style drawings. 2 of them were printed as t-shirts and the 3rd one, showing a bull with a blondie girl, was for a girl top.

Sevilla!!!

This time a close friend of mine asked me to draw acartoon dedicated to his girlfriend, Ana, and her son,Kike "Renacuajo". As both of them live in Sevilla,Spain, the theme was as clear as water!!!! TheGiralda, "sevillanas", "bailaores", etc. So, you cansee the boy dressed in "corto" style, playing aSpanish guitar, and his mom dancing as a "sevillana".

Really, this could be a nice story! A fellow jeeper from the http://www.g503.com/ site, mr. Johan Van Keer, asked me for a possible work, devoted to his wife and future daughter, Hélène. He has thought on a drawing showing a storch driving his Willys jeep and delivering a wonderful package, with their baby! Cool!

They offered this drawing as a prize during the last edition of the Guixaró. And it was got by mr. Josep L. Cardona.

Hi!

Really, if there´s a classic vehicle that I love, it´s the Willys jeep, in all his variations: military, civylian, etc., etc.

This time, the "Club Jeep Willys Clásico de España" ordered me a DIN A3 cardboard caricature, in which I must show the director of this club, Mr. "Patolucas" (obviously, this is his nickname!).

Commissioned order

Hi!

This time, I show you some shots of a commissioned order for a customer, mr. Roberto Sanz and his girlfriend, Nuria. The background is the cathedral of Segovia, Spain. The size of the cardboaard was 42 x 29.7 cms. and it was entirely painted with acrylics and several pencils.

Well, this time I have painted a canvas devoted to the French 2CV, made by Citroen. A real mythic car!

This time I have added a more elaborated background. This is part of Beasain, a village from Gipuzkoa, at the Basque Country. It could be seen the palace, bridge and hermitage.

I have decided to upload several pics of the painting process of this artwork. From "le crayon" to the 1st paint couches, and then the final result. Ups! I have forgotten the signature!!!!

Painted this last week over cardboard. The background is the townhall of my hometown, Pamplona, or Iruña, in Basque language.

The bus is a typical Colombian "chiva", another commissioned order. Both of them are sketches.
